Installation / settings guide

This explains the entire process of how to set up your connection to the Internet, from your initial application to starting of Internet service.

Step 1
Obtain the needed items!

In addition to the connecting equipment, you must also obtain a LAN cable for connecting between devices.

and other Wi-Fi compatible devices.

* A LAN cable may still be required when using a wireless LAN for making the router settings and upgrading.
* When connecting to your device, a LAN cable may already be supplied with the device, and so please contact your device manufacturer for more information.
* For customers who applied for services exceeding 1 Gbps, use of a category 6A cable or higher is recommended.

Step 2
Connect the equipment!

Depending on your residence’s installation environment (operating environment and other factors), the technician will perform either an on-site installation or off-site installation.

On-site Installation

The technician visits your site to perform the installation.
The installation process typically takes about two hours.

Connection for Single-family Detached Home

* When using the Home Gateway Wireless LAN Card and Hikari Denwa (IP phone service) as a set

* The equipment used varies depending on your contracted carrier and service.

When using FLET'S TV

1. Fiber-optic Cable Routing Work (From Outside Wall to Inside Home)

The fiber-optic cable is routed from the outside through telephone ducts. If the existing installation cannot be used, we may ask you to provide new duct installation, or we may perform the work for an additional charge.

2. Installation of ONU Built-in Hikari Denwa Home Gateway

The fiber-optic cable routed indoors is connected to the ONU Built-in Hikari Denwa Home Gateway installed in the room.

4. Fiber-optic Cable Routing Work

Connection for Multi-unit Housing

* When using the Home Gateway Wireless LAN Card and Hikari Denwa (IP phone service) as a set

* The equipment used varies depending on your contracted carrier and service.

1. Fiber-optic Cable Routing Work (From Utility Pole to Common Space)

The fiber-optic cable is routed from the utility pole to the common space in the multi-unit housing. A splitter is installed in the common space, and the fiber-optic cable is shared by the entire multi-unit housing (for a Hikari wiring system).

2. Installation of ONU Built-in Hikari Denwa Home Gateway

Fiber-optic cable is connected from the splitter located in the common space to each residence. The fiber-optic cable is connected to the ONU Built-in Hikari Denwa Home Gateway through a telephone line modular jack.

Off-site Installation

If fiber-optic cable routing work is not required, no technician will visit your site.
Please prepare the Service Request Information and equipment that were sent to you from the contracted carrier, and follow the procedure to make the connections and settings at your location. The connection and setting procedures with images and video are provided below.

  • The FLET'S Simple Setup Tool cannot be installed in macOS. Please make the settings yourself.
  • Depending on your version of Windows 10, you may be unable to use some functions of this tool (automatic detection function for wireless LAN connection). First connect the LAN cable, and then make the settings.
  • Windows 10 users who have a Internet settings guide that does not support Windows 10 should refer to this information (PDF format, 1.16 MB).
