Hikari Denwa Usage Notes

Hikari Denwa Usage Notes

  •  •
To use Hikari Denwa (Hikari Denwa A), you must sign up for any one of the following Internet connection services and pay the associated charges: FLET'S Hikari Next, FLET'S Hikari Light, or FLET'S Hikari Premium.
  •  •
A separately installation charge is required to use Hikari Denwa.
  •  •
Separate installation/setup charges are required to use Hikari Denwa.
  •  •
Some outgoing calls may be restricted including those to phone numbers with prefixes of telecommunications carriers (e.g. 0039).
  •  •
Hikari Denwa is not available during power outages.

See this page for details.

When using telephones with ACR or LCR (automatic carrier routing functions)

  •  •
Calls made using Hikari Denwa will not have a prefix specifying it as a unique communications carrier. Therefore, you cannot use the ACR function (including Super ACR) incorporated in the telephone set nor the function that automatically attaches a carrier identification code (e.g. 0039 for NTT Japan) when making mobile calls. (If such functions are enabled, you may not be able to call using Hikari Denwa.) Before using Hikari Denwa, make sure these are disabled on your phone. If enabled, stop or cancel these functions.
When stopping the ACR function, you will also need to terminate your contract with the ACR service provider.

About Terminals

  •  •
You can use Hikari Denwa by connecting the telephone set to a Hikari Denwa VoIP terminal, but the following terminals cannot be used.
  •  •
    ISDN phones (i-trenby, etc.)
  •  •
    G4FAX machines
  •  •
Telecommunications devices equipped with an emergency call function (Silver Phone Anshin Series, SL-series emergency call system telephones, etc.)

G3FAX machines and modems can be used, but transmission quality may not be satisfactory depending on the communications environment. If the recipient is using an ISDN line, fax services may not be available depending on the settings at the recipient's end.

  • *
When using a device from a company other than NTT West, inquire with the manufacturer. Even if the device can be used, an installation charge may be separately required.

Line monitoring signal communication, No-ring communication, etc.

  •  •
As a general rule, when suspending an NTT West subscriber line or similar line services to use Hikari Denwa, any service that is provided by NTT West and incidental to the suspended subscriber line or similar line services shall be cancelled (including supplementary services and discount services).

In particular, be aware that if you are using the following services available with an NTT West subscriber line or similar line services, you will not be able to continue using them because they are not available with Hikari Denwa.

- Line monitoring signal communication (Communication of errors/failures detected on lines to a monitoring center such as a security contractor)
- No-ringing communication (Remote meter reading for electricity, water, gas, etc.)
- Off-talk communication (Transmission of various information from an information center)

You may be able to use equivalent services with Hikari Denwa depending on the telecommunications carrier you are subscribed to. Be sure to inform your telecommunications carrier yourself that you will change to Hikari Denwa.

MYLINE Service

MYLINE service is not applicable with Hikari Denwa. If you use number portability* to keep the same phone number as for the subscriber line, be aware that the MYLINE contract will be cancelled when the subscriber line is suspended.
